What stands between me and the decision?

Path opens your route and lays out every requirement in order. A green tick is met and a coral dot is in progress: legal, continuous residence, ten years on the general route and fewer on the shorter ones, Italian at B1 from one of the recognised certifying bodies, a clean criminal record and sufficient declared income over the three years before you apply: 8,263.31 euros a year for a single applicant, 11,362.05 with a dependent spouse. Each item explains the rule in plain language and links to the official source, Law 91/1992 at Normattiva, the Ministero dell'Interno or the Università per Stranieri di Siena. New Stage one: the long-term resident permit. Path now has two stages. Stage one lists the requirements of the permesso UE per soggiornanti di lungo periodo, counts your years and lets you tick off the rest, with the costs and family applications underneath. Citizenship does not ask for it, so Path still opens on citizenship, but holding it exempts you from the B1 certificate.

New Never miss a permit renewal. Add the day your residence permit ends and the Dashboard counts down to it. A renewal is asked for at least 60 days ahead, so the first reminder comes nine weeks before the end. Up to 60 days after the end you can still ask. After that, without a request, your stay counts as irregular.

Path is also plain about the two facts people meet late. Continuity lives in the anagrafe: the residence count follows your municipal registration, and if the comune strikes you off, the clock restarts from re-registration. And dual citizenship is ordinary here: Italy asks nobody to give up the nationality they already have, and whether your own country lets you keep its nationality is a question for that country's law, which the app says out loud long before you are anywhere near the paperwork.

Every requirement can carry the evidence for it: a language certificate, a residence permit, a tax return, a record certificate. Note when a document expires and that date joins What's coming a month ahead, so a certificate never lapses quietly while you are waiting. Documents stay on the phone you added them on. On iPhone they are encrypted by iOS while it is locked; on Android they sit in the app's own private storage. On both they are kept out of the backup, so a restored phone will not bring them back, and you should keep your own copy of anything hard to replace. Belong Italy never uploads them and never sees them.

What is waiting at the end?

Passport is the reason for all the rest: the document your road leads to. The real cover in colour with the facts that matter beside it: validity, the fee, where you apply and dual citizenship. Every figure is taken from the issuing authority's own published pages, dated and linked to the source.

Add your name and a photo and the passport carries them as the holder's. A pill under the cover says when you could apply, at the earliest, from the same figures your Dashboard reads, and the tab tells you what makes this passport particular: 48 burgundy pages with the emblem of the Republic on the cover, biometric since 26 October 2006 and interior pages that carry the pavement of the Campidoglio, the Marcus Aurelius and the rose window of Orvieto cathedral. Valid ten years from age 18, five from 3 to 17 and three under 3, 116 euros in all, 73.50 at the tabaccheria and 42.50 by PagoPA, applied for at a Questura or Commissariato by appointment or at a post office.
