Italy has no citizenship knowledge test. What people call the Italian citizenship test is a B1 Italian exam, most often the CILS B1 Cittadinanza. Every app for it appeared in 2026. Here is what each says it offers, checked on 20 October 2026.

This is one piece of it. See the whole journey on belongitaly.appBelong Italy makes one of the apps on this page, so read it knowing that. Every line about another app is what its publisher says on its own App Store page, Google Play page or website, read on 20 October 2026, with the link under Sources. Question counts are each publisher's own claim. Nobody has audited them, ours included.
Ours first so you know where it stands, the rest in no particular order. Prices and counts are as each publisher stated them on 20 October 2026.
Start with Unistrasi's free sample papers, which are the closest thing to the real exam that exists. For speaking and listening, use audio, a course or a teacher.
If you also want to know where you stand on everything else Italian citizenship asks of you, Belong Italy is the one built for that: residence, the B1, income and your record, in the same app as the reading and grammar practice. What you enter stays on your phone.
Not a knowledge test. Italian law asks for Italian at B1, shown with a certificate such as the CILS B1 Cittadinanza.
No. The Università per Stranieri di Siena publishes free sample papers with audio and answer keys, but no app.
Not on its own. An app drills reading and grammar well, but listening, writing and speaking need audio, recordings or a teacher. Unistrasi's free samples cover every part of the exam.
1,062 questions for the reading and grammar abilità, in five chapters Belong Italy wrote, with a daily five, chapter drills, a mistakes deck and a progress screen. The other three abilità, listening, writing and speaking, are listed in the app with no questions behind them, so you see the whole exam and which part you are training.
No mock paper, here or in the app: three-option questions cannot reproduce a paper whose reading part is a true or false test and a gapped text. The questions are written by Belong Italy, not by the Università per Stranieri di Siena.
